The work of Fu Wenjun forms part of the collection of the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern in Barcelona

The Chinese contemporary artist Fu Wenjun and two of his works of digital pictorial photography join the collection of the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern of Barcelona, Spain.

This weekend took place in the museum the first individual exhibition of Fu Wenjun in Europe titled “Introspection of Soul – Artistic Expression in the Digital Pictorial Photography of Wenjun Fu”. The work of the international artist and his technique did not leave visitors indifferent. A fusion of styles and techniques that do not allow clearly see the boundaries between photography and painting, reality and representation. Just as the curator Francesco mentioned in the opening, “there are many meanings hidden in the works, you must look inside the work carefully and find your own personalized interpretation of Wenjun’s works”.

Museum director José Manuel Infiesta was also impressed by the work of the master and wanted to increase the collection of the MEAM with two of his works: 350 B.C., and A Wind from Yesterday No.2.

The artist who traveled for the occasion to Barcelona, after his solo exhibition at the National Museum of Chinese Art in Beijing, was very pleased to be able to personally show his work. “For me, this exhibition is of great importance. It is my first solo exhibition in Europe, supported by such an important museum in Barcelona. I spent much time working on my photography style, because I would like to show precious Chinese traditional culture in my modernized artistic expressiondigital pictorial photography”, said Fu Wenjun on the occasion of the opening in the museum.

Wenjun´s artworks are collected by National Art Museum of China, Today Art Museum, the Old Summer Palace Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Kennedy Family, World Council of Peoples for the United Nations, Société Nationale des Beaux Arts of France, Egypt Ahmed Shawki Museum and other significant organizations and collectors.

Fu Wenjun, born in 1955, was graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. His works embody his thinking and reflection on many issues related to the Eastern and Western history, culture and humanity, including the relationship between different cultures in the age of globalization, the heritage of traditional Chinese culture in a rapidly changing society, industrialization and urbanization in Chinese cities.
