Naoko Morisawa frequently finds her inspiration in the ethereal beauty of the natural world. This most recent diptych – which took her three months to complete – was inspired by a recent trip to Santa Fe, NM and the haunting landscape of the same desert, sky, and mountains that inspired Georgia O’Keefe.

Handcrafted Oil-Stained Wood Mosaic, Acrylic, Oil, Washi On Board, 40″ x 60″

As Morisawa’s Seattle gallery dealer, I’ve found her growth and artistic maturity as the finest of fine artists to be nothing short of remarkable! Speaking as objectively as I can, when she delivered ‘ROUTE 84′ this morning, I was speechless…it is to date, the most elegantly, intricately detailed work she’s ever produced.
NOTE: ‘ROUTE 84’ has been selected by the curator of the Bellevue Museum of Art as an entrant in a national contemporary craft exhibition taking place in Washington State; location and date TBA.
