Written and directed by Laura del Muro. A very intimate project based in Freud theories where fears and weakness are developed by Superego in a letter that she writes to Subconscious.
2016 has been a revolutionary year for mental illness. We have demonstrated that we are more open than ever about our personal struggles. This video explores the internal conflicts that we suffer under anxiety and depression according Sigmund Freud psychoanalytic theory of personality which argues that human behaviour is the result of the interactions among three component parts of the mind: the id, ego, and superego. The depressive phase would occur when the individual’s super-ego or conscience is dominant. I have tried to show this inner scene. The name of the video is Letter to Subconscious. Superego has killed Id and explains her why she did it, what she felt and how she managed it. The video shows a strong Superego completely powerless. We fear what we don’t know and it generates violence sometimes.
Laura Muñoz Muro (b. 1989) explores several fields combining poetry, animation and photography in a slightly surrealist manner. With her fascination for the metaphysical world, she investigates the human sense through a cinematographic prism.
