In Chisou Gallery we present a selection of recent works by Jan Valik which were painted within last year since his visit in Komono in May 2017.

Title of the exhibition ‘Inner weather’ refers to a flowing space we can feel between nature, landscape and our human feelings and contemplation.
It is author’s second solo exhibition in Japan in last 2 years.


Jan Valik was born in 1987 in former Czechoslovakia.
Jan is a graduate of Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Since finishing his studies he participates in Artist-in-Residency Programs in Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, France; BankART Studio in Yokohama, Japan; Maumau Gallery in Istanbul, Turkey; Mark Rothko Art Centre in Latvia; Egon Schiele Art Centre in Czech Republic.
In 2016 he received a Painting Prize from Foundation of VUB Bank in Slovakia.

His works has been exhibited in solo exhibitions in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Japan and also on group exhibitions internationally in Europe, Japan and China.

Lives and works in Bratislava, Slovakia and Brussels, Belgium.
